Monthly Learning Meeting

Leaving ADDIE for SAM

The ADDIE process is past its prime.

It was developed long before Agile and other iterative processes that have introduced greater efficiencies in design and development, fostered more creativity, and addressed effective stakeholder involvement. Leaving ADDIE for SAM introduces two new concepts SAM, the Successive Approximation Model, and the Savvy Start. Together, they incorporate contemporary design and development processes that reduce the complexity of instructional design and development, yielding more energetic and effective learning experiences.

Steve Lee, co-founder of Allen Interactions, will outline best practices for using an iterative process—the Successive Approximation Model (SAM). Learn how SAM can help:

  • Manage client expectations and content development
  • Bring focus to designing performance-focused interactions
  • Minimize the risk of delay and endless revisions
  • Creating a project workflow based on optimized SME utilization and efficient use of reusable learning objects
  • Establish continuous improvement practices that are integrated with the perpetual learning cycle
