Monthly Learning Meeting - Introducing Storyline!

Presentation by Kevin Gumienny

This interactive presentation will demonstrate some of the more impressive features of Articulate’s new rapid eLearning development tool, Storyline, which was just released! Storyline offers the ability to develop sophisticated interactions using image states, variables, and a powerful quizzing engine. Yet the tool has an user interface based on PowerPoint and Articulate’s Quizmaker, that is surprisingly easy to use.

Dr. Gumienny will discuss how he used the tool to rapidly develop the online component of a blended learning course, putting Storyline’s power to practical use. He’ll demonstrate the course in both the design phase and from the end user’s perspective, as well as discuss some difficulties that he encountered inputting the course into production and how they were overcome.

Kevin Gumienny is a curriculum coordinator for the Texas Engineering Extension Service’s Infrastructure Training & Safety Institute, where he leads a team of subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia specialists to produce instructor-led and online curriculum. Dr. Gumienny has more than 15 years’ experience in adult learning and instructional design. Dr. Gumienny’ smost recent work includes the online courses: Utility Work Zone Safety, Math Basics for Electrical Metering, and Energy Efficiency for Commercial Buildings. He takes an active role in sharing knowledge about online training, having helped organize user groups that focus on development tools for eLearning and given presentations at several conferences, most recently the 2012 TxDLA.
