Description: Building a learning organization from scratch and then leading it so that it impacts the organization and employees can be challenging. But, if you focus on the needs of the employees and organization, utilize all of the amazing resources available to you, and never forget to grow and develop your team – it can be done and done well.

In 2008, Mandy Smith created SWBC’s corporate Training & Employee Development team. Join us as she shares lessons learned and how her team helped transform SWBC into one of the top learning organizations.

Speaker: Mandy Smith, Vice President, Training & Employee Development, SWBC

Background: Mandy joined SWBC in 2001. She currently serves as Vice President of Training and Employee Development and is responsible for providing SWBC employees with learning and development opportunities which enable them to be more efficient, effective, and engaged.

Prior to her current role, she worked in SWBC’s Financial Institution Group. Mandy is responsible for the creation of all instructor-led classroom, online training, SWBC’s Corporate Library, and learning management system (Learning + Performance Center). Mandy is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor in Management and a 2013 graduate of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Leadership Lab. Mandy is a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD). She also sits on Chief Learning Officer’s Business Intelligence Board. In addition, she is involved in numerous community efforts and helps to generate volunteer support for several San Antonio non-profit organizations. She has spearheaded employee involvement for United Way, Junior Achievement, and the American Heart Association Heart Walk.
