Topic: Managing Learning Programs: Implementing a Corporate University

Summary: As a result of attending this monthly learning meeting, attendees will understand the business model for creating a corporate university, how to align training to the business as well as how to establish training operation procedures and past practices.

About the Speaker: David Hagen, Director, Organizational Change and Development, CPS Energy University

Background: David Hagen is the director of CPS Energy University (CPSU) and oversees all training programs as CPS Energy. Training programs include operational or technical training as well as corporate training. CPSU has a staff of around 30 training professionals. David is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Behavior and Change. He received his master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from St. Mary’s University. David served 11 years in the Air Force, worked for Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, West Corporation, and for the past 10 years has worked for CPS Energy.

Speaker Accomplishments:

  • First CPS Energy executive to lead CPSU which was formed in August 2013.
  • Chairperson for the development of a new physical conditioning program for USAF Basic Military Training which was awarded the Air Force Quality trophy. This program was also highlighted by a front page article in the San Antonio Express-News and cover story for Airmen magazine.
  • Distinguished Honor Graduate of the Air Force Technical Training Instructor Course.
