Summary:

As proposed by Bandura (1971) who advanced the theory of social learning, this presentation will be on using virtual technology to promote employee training through a scenario style learning. By using the tools of virtual learning employees can engage directly with peers and leadership to emulate the desired skills of the training. Subjects such as customer service, diversity and many others are well adapted for this learning style.

Social learning is about learning from watching others perform a skill or by working with others to learn a skill. There are many advances in technology but humans primarily learn the traditional ways. By learning with others and from others people accept the learning as meaningful experiences that are easy to move into the long term memory. This method has been used for years as in apprenticeship training, the advent of virtual learning spaces allows for that type of training to be happen any where and at any time.

If you have little to no experience with the use of virtual worlds in education and training, you’ll have an opportunity to experience one first-hand. If you are experienced in virtual worlds, join us to give Mark ideas and feedback about his use of virtual worlds. It’s been a while since we’ve explored virtual worlds in an ELL presentation, so it’s time for us to revisit the topic.
